The Christmas Ice Rink

Since 1999, the Liège Christmas Skating Rink has been a perfect part of the end-of-year festivities with a very wide-ranging programme of events, developed under the concept of "Liège, City of Christmas" (skating rink, village, European Circus Festival, puppet festival, concert at the Cathedral, etc.).

Installed for 5 weeks on the Place Cathédrale, the most animated commercial heart of the City of Liege, it gives all the regulars of this privileged meeting place the benefit of a special animation and illumination and welcomes, each year, more than 20,000 skaters!

Location

The ice rink is installed on the current site of the parterre of the Place de la Cathédrale, with a surface area of 30m x 18m, or 540m².

Capacity

During each skating session, the ice rink can accommodate +/- 250 people.

Protection of the ice rink

To protect itself from bad weather, the rink is entirely covered by a 1000 m² "roof" (40 X 25 m).

Opening days at Christmas and New Year

24 and 31/12: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
12/25: 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
1/01: Closed

Opening hours of the chalets

The chalets are open from Sunday to Wednesday from 11 am to 10 pm, and from Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to midnight.

During the exclusive evenings (see agenda), the chalets are open until midnight from Sunday to Wednesday.

Sessions

1st session from 10.00am to 12.00
2nd session from 12.45pm to 2.45pm
3rd session from 3.15pm to 5.15pm
4th session from 5.45pm to 7.45pm
Additional session on Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 10pm.

Skate hire

A 54m² (12 x 4.5m) heated chalet serves as a skate rental centre and changing room.

375 pairs of skates, in all sizes (32 to 46), and 100 "skateettes" (double-bladed skates to introduce children to the pleasures of ice) are available to skaters. 200 new skates were purchased this year, as well as a "state-of-the-art" sharpening machine.

The entrance fee, including skate rental, for a 2-hour session is set at :
Adult admission: 10€ - Child admission (-12 years old): 8€ - Large family admission (2 adults and 3 children): 8€/pers
